Radka Hlavnová

 is the central bank of the Czech Republic and the supervisor of the Czech financial market.  It is established under the Constitution of the Czech Republic and carries out its activities in compliance with Act No. 6/1993 Coll., on the Czech National Bank and other regulations.  It manages the assets entrusted to it by the state independently and with due diligence. Interventions in its activities are only permissible on the basis of a law  The CNB´s headquarters is in Prague. Seven regional branches are located in Prague, Ústí nad Labem, Plzeň, České Budějovice, Hradec Králové, Brno and Ostrava.

 The supreme governing body of the CNB is the Bank Board, consisting of the CNB Governor, two Vice- Governors and four Bank Board members.Bank Board  The Bank Board shall set monetary policy and the instruments for implementing this policy, and shall decide upon the fundamental monetary policy measures of the Czech National Bank and measures in the area of financial market supervision.  All Bank Board members are appointed by the President of the Czech Republic for a term of six years

 to maintain price stability,  to oversee the stability of the financial system,  to ensure smooth circulation of money and smooth payments,  to support the balanced and smooth development of the Czech financial market.

 According to  Through monetary policy we seek to preserve price stability, i.e. low and stable inflation. Maintenance of stability of the financial system as a whole, which we pursue through macroprudential policy, is a necessary condition for the fulfilment of this objective. Through the joint action of monetary policy and macroprudential policy, we contribute to maintaining confidence in the value of the Czech koruna and safeguarding the stability of the macroeconomic environment.  By supervising the financial market, issuing prudential rules and rules of conduct towards clients and conducting financial market operations we care for the stability and development of the financial system and protect its clients.  By managing the payment system and issuing banknotes and coins we ensure smooth payments and cash flows.  We administer the foreign exchange reserves.

 as already stated the primary objective of the CNB is to maintain price stability ( i.e. creating a low-inflation environment in the economy, is the central bank’s ongoing contribution to the creation of conditions for sustainable economic growth)  In accordance with its primary objective, the CNB sets monetary policy, issues banknotes and coins and manages the circulation of currency, the payment system and settlement between banks.  Supervision of the banking sector, the capital market, the insurance industry, pension funds, credit unions, and electronic money institutions, as well as foreign exchange supervision.
