Water Cycle Clouds Weather Instruments Weather Maps Anything Goes!

The first step in the water cycle

What is evaporation?

The process by which clouds are formed

What is condensation?

Water that flows downhill into streams, rivers, and the ocean.

What is runoff?

Any form of water that falls from the sky.

What is precipitation?

The reason puddles disappear after a rainstorm.

What is evaporation?

High and wispy, these indicate clear weather.

What are cirrus clouds?

Tall, white, puffy clouds that indicate clear weather.

What are cumulous clouds?

Tall dark clouds that usually mean a thunderstorm is coming.

What are cumulonimbus clouds?

Low, gray clouds that cover the sky and often indicate rain or snow showers.

What are stratus clouds?

The only clouds you can walk through.

What is fog?

Measures temperature

What is a thermometer?

Measures air pressure

What is a barometer?

Measures wind speed

What is an anemometer?

Measures the amount of rainfall over a period of time.

What is a rain gauge?

Measures the amount of water vapor in the air.

What is a hygrometer?

The place where two air masses meet and where weather often changes.

What is a front?

The direction weather usually moves across the USA

What is east to west?

The meaning of this symbol

What is a cold front?

The meaning of this symbol

What is a warm front?

The weather in the red circle

What is clear and sunny?

Freezing rain

What is sleet?

Streams of water that flow through the ocean

What is a current?

Huge sheets of ice that cover portions of the Earth.

What are glaciers?

Where most of the fresh water on the planet is found

What are glaciers and ice caps?

The source of energy for all parts of the water cycle

What is the sun?
