Presentation transcript:

Earth’s Rotation Rotation means “to spin”. Earth rotates on its axis- an imaginary line running through the center of earth from north to south pole. Earth complete 1 rotation (spin) every 24 hours Earth rotates counterclockwise

What causes day and night on Earth? Earth’s rotation. The ½ facing the sun is experiencing day while the ½ facing away from the sun is experiencing night.

Earth’s Revolution Revolution means “to go around something”. A synonym for revolution is orbit. The Earth revolves around the sun counterclockwise. It takes Earth 365 days (1 year) to make one complete revolution around the sun.
