Restoring The Fallen Galatians 6:1-9

Parable Of the Sower Wayside – Hears, but evil one snatches it away Matthew 13:18-23 Wayside – Hears, but evil one snatches it away Rocky – Has no roots so fades away due to trials Thorns – Growth choked out by things of this world Good Soil – Hears, grows, and bears fruit.

We know the pain of seeing one fall away from the Lord… “If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If anyone's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire” (1 Cor 3:14-15)

Help For Restoring The Fallen Our Motivation – Why seek their restoration Because we know that falling away means falling away from the Lord (1 John 1:3, 6) Because we know that falling away means falling from grace (Galatians 5:4-7) Because falling away means walking on a path to Hell! (Jude 1:22-23; Heb 10:26-31) Because we know that falling away means a loss of fellowship with one another (1 John 1:3)

Help For Restoring The Fallen Mission – Practical Things To Understand Restoration is a difficult work for the fallen and the one trying to restore them (Heb 6:4-6) Emphasize they still have a place in the kingdom of God & local church (John 21:15-19) Emphasize the power of God’s grace & the blood of Jesus (Eph 1:7; 1 Tim 1:12-14) Reestablish our love and emphasize the steadfast love of the Lord (1 Pet 4:8; Rom 5:8-10) Show them that there is strength for repentance in the Lord (2 Cor 12:9; Eph 6:10)

Help For Restoring The Fallen Our Mistakes – Some Things To Avoid We cannot overlook or minimize the sins that have been committed (2 Cor 7:8-11) Provide comfort, forgiveness, and support… Not resentment or grief (2 Cor 2:6-11) We must avoid any pride, self-righteousness, or hypocrisy in our approach (Gal 6:1-2)
