When we compare two things or people we add – ER THAN to a short adjective. Example: short + er Luke is short. Luke is shorter than Lily.

When we compare two things or people we add – iER THAN to a two syllable adjective ending in “y”. Example: Happy Sarah is happy. ier Sara is happier than Jack.

When we compare two things or people we add MORE + ADJ + THAN to a long adjective. Example: intelligent Susie is intelligent. Susie is more intelligent than Luke. Comparatives
