How do you receive this medal? The Caldecott Medal is awarded yearly to the artist with the most distinguished Picture Book for Children published in the United States during the preceding year. The award winner must be a citizen of the United States.

Who was Randolph Caldecott? Children’s illustrator working in the 19 th Century in England Illustrations for children were unique and humorous Illustrations had the ability to create a sense of movement, energy, and action that complemented the stories they were in Illustration on the medal is taken from one of Caldecott’s illustrations
