La troisième personne (Il/Elle) Français 1- Mme. Boston

Sometimes, we need to talk about someone else. – Il: he – Elle: she – *Instead of subject pronouns sometimes you might just have a name – Elle est petite. – Sandra est petite. – Il est grand. – Eric est grand.

Think about if you are talking to a friend about a new student. You might ask the following questions about the new student to your friend: – Comment s’appelle-t-il? What is his name? – Quel âge a-t-il? How old is he? – il can always be replaced with elle if you are talking about a girl. – Quelle est la date de son anniversaire? What is the date of his birthday? – Son=his/hers – Quel est son numéro de téléphone? What is his phone number? – Quelle est son adresse ? What is his address?

Your friend might know some information about the new student and provide you with the following: – Il s’appelle Eric. His name is Eric. – Il a seize ans. He is 16 years old. – Son anniversaire est le douze mai. His birthday is the May 12th. – Son numéro de téléphone est His telephone number is…. – Son adresse est His address is ….

Try to put this woman’s information into the 3 rd person. In other words, talk about her to someone else. – Salut! Je m’appelle Suzanne. J’ai 13 ans et mon anniversaire est le 25 juin. Mon numéro de téléphone est et mon adresse est J’adore mon chien.

Où habites-tu? Where do you live? – J’habite à Moncks Corner.

Où habite-il (elle)? Where does he/she live? – Il (elle) habite en Caroline du sud.
