 Excretion  The process by which the body collects and removes wastes.  Includes the following organs: › Liver, Lungs, skin, and kidneys.
Excretion. Excretion is the elimination of waste substances from the blood. It’s no the same as the elimination of faeces.

Urinary System Our bodies produce several kinds of wastes, including sweat, carbon dioxide gas, feces (also known as stool), and urine (pee). These wastes exit the body in different ways: Sweat is released through pores (tiny holes) in the skin. Water vapor and carbon dioxide are exhaled (breathed out) from the lungs. And undigested food materials are formed into feces in the intestines and excreted from the body as solid waste in bowel movements.

1 Each of the nephrons contains a filter called the ____________, which contains a network of tiny blood vessels known as capillaries.

1 Glomerulus Home

2 _______ are tubes that carry the urine out of each kidney to be stored in the urinary bladder — a muscular collection sac in the lower abdomen.

2 Ureters

3 The urine is ejected from the bladder and out of the body through the ___________

3 Urethra

4 Acute kidney failure may be due to bacterial infection, injury, shock, heart failure, poisoning, or drug overdose. Treatment includes correcting the problem that led to the failure and sometimes requires surgery or _________

4 Dialysis

5 When a person is ready to urinate, the bladder walls contract and the sphincter relaxes.

5 Sphincter

6 The ______ pelvis, located near the hilus, collects the urine flowing from the calyxes.

6 Renal

7 Urine also contains _________, a pigmented blood product that gives urine its yellowish color.

7 Urochrome

8 The kidneys also secrete a hormone called _____________, which stimulates and controls the body's red blood cell production

8 Erythropoietin

9 Urine, which is produced by the _________, contains the by- products of our body's metabolism — salts, toxins, and water that end up in our blood.

9 Kidneys
