Reaching Higher, Enhancing Value The Evolution of Reaching Higher

What is the framing idea behind Reaching Higher, Enhancing Value? A culture that does not highly value education stands in the way of our 60 percent goal Only when Indiana finds a way to measure, report and improve value will this culture begin to change This plan calls for the Indiana College Value Index to begin changing this culture

Moving from framing idea to strategies Strategies in the plan are all geared around enhancing value – More students graduate (and at lower cost) – It is clear to student and employer what student knows and is able to do as a result of degree – Students find fulfilling work after graduation Sections break down along those lines

Moving from College Access to Success Preparing K-12 Teachers, School Leaders & Students for College Success Ensuring that College is Affordable Focusing on the Community College Strengthening Indiana’s Major Research Universities Embracing Accountability Completion Productivity (defines emerging concept) Quality (elevates previous theme) Metrics that Matter Reaching HigherReaching Higher, Achieving More

How is the section framework similar to Achieving More? First section: Completion – always top priority Second section: used to define an emerging concept – Achieving More - Productivity – Enhancing Value - Competency Third section: elevates as a direct priority a theme that wove throughout past documents – Achieving More - Quality – Enhancing Value - Career
