English I: Bellringer Show Ms. Brown that you know EACH literary term on the list (If you don’t know one—learn it!) by providing the definition, an example, OR a visual/picture representation of the word.

While you watch the film…  Answer any questions that you can (don’t worry if you miss some)  Complete as much of the diagram as you can  Listen and stay quiet! (It’s not that loud)

Questions for Discussion  What are the over-arching themes of this book? Can you relate? Have you ever been in LOVE?  Have you ever hated someone simply because of their name or where they’re from?  Have outside circumstances ever hurt a relationship you were in?  Would you give up your family for the love of a boyfriend or girlfriend?  Do these connections make you any more interested in reading Romeo and Juliet? Why or why not?

During your research, reflect on the following questions:  How does learning about the author of a text and the time period that the text was written in help you to better understand the text? How does an author’s experience impact his/her tone? How do your personal experiences affect your writing?
