ANIMAL SAFETY Do not cause pain, discomfort or injury to an animal Follow your teacher’s directions when handling animals Wash your hands thoroughly after handling animals or their cages

EYE SAFETY

1. Always wear protective equipment.

CHEMICAL / POISON SAFETY

1. Never eat or drink anything in the lab

2. All chemicals in the lab are to be considered dangerous. 3. Do not touch, taste, or smell any chemicals unless specifically instructed to do so. 4. The proper technique for smelling chemicals is WAFTING

5. Always add acid to water and swirls or stir the solution

6. Never return unused chemicals to their original container. 7. Never remove chemicals or other materials from the lab area or class room

8. Report spills the teacher immediately so they can be cleaned properly.

GLASSWARE SAFETY Never use broken or chipped glassware Make sure glassware is clean before use and putting away Do not put hot glassware in cold water
