ISTE Standards 1 & 2 Ashley Holien & Ellen Burns

Standard 1 Creativity and Innovation Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology.

Creativity and Innovation Students: a. Apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products, or processes. b. Create original works as a means of personal or group expression. c. Use models and simulations to explore complex systems and issues. d. Identify trends and forecast possibilities.

Creativity and Innovation A. Apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products, or processes. For example - Students can use their knowledge of swimming, and create a poem or short story using this website. What is another way that students could use their existing knowledge to generate new ideas using technology?

Creativity and Innovation B. Create original works as a means of personal or group expression. Students could individually, or with a group create a comic strip using this website. This comic could focus on something they are learning in class.

Creativity and Innovation C. Use models and simulations to explore complex systems and issues. Virtual programs like performing knee surgery, and frog disection. This would be great for older students in biology class, or human anatomy.

Creativity and Innovation D. Identify trends and forecast possibilities There are many trends concerning technology that are new. -Cell phones, Wireless Internet, Social Networking sites, Texting. -What are some new possibilities you can think of?

Communication and Collaboration Standard 2

Communication and Collaboration Students use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others. Standard 2

Communication & Collaboration A. Students interact, collaborate, and publish with peers, experts or others employing a variety of digital environments and media. B. Students communicate information and ideas effectively to multiple audiences using a variety of media and formats.

Communication & Collaboration C. Students will develop cultural understanding and global awareness by engaging with learners of other cultures. D. Students will contribute to project teams to produce original works or solve problems.
