Transversals + Parallel lines Obj: to use the properties of transversals to solve angle problems

Definitions: 1.Transversal – a line ray on segment that intersects 2 or more lines 2.Exterior angle- angles on the outside of the 2 intersected lines 3.Interior angles- angles on the inside of the 2 intersected lines 4.Alternate exterior angle- angles outside of the intersected lines on opposite sides of the transversal 5.Alternate interior angle- angles on the inside of the intersected lines on the opposite sides of the transversal 6.Corresponding angles- angles in the same position on the opposite sides of the intersection

Alternate Interior Angle Property a b If m <1 = m<2 then a b

Alternate Exterior Angle Property If m<1 = m<4 or m<3 = m< 2 Then a b If a b the m<1 = m<4 + m<3 = m<

Example # 3 If AB CD m<1 = 28 , m<ACD=110  Find m<3 AB CD 3 2 M<1=28  M<2=28  M<3= =82  110
