Sweden occupies the eastern part of the Scandinavian Peninsula and is the fourth largest country in Europe. Sweden’s boundaries are Finland, Norway and Baltic sea.

In the north of Sweden there are several mountains and lakes. To the south and east we find central lowlands, while in the south there are fertile areas of forests, valleys, and plains. The main lakes are lake Vanern and lake Vattern. The main rivers are Dal, Torne, Klar. The principal islands and regions of Sweden are: Gotland Island, Oland Island, Norrland region, Svealand region, Gotaland region

In this country, the temperature in the south is cold, there are cloudy and cold winters and partly cloudy summers. In the north, the climate is subarctic.

The population of Sweden is 9,723,809 and the population density 55.6 per sq mi The growth rate is 0,79%. The ethnicity: the indigenous population includes the Sweden with a Finnish minority, while in the past there were immigrations of the Finns, Yugoslavs, Danes, Norwegians, Greeks and Turks. Sweden speak Swedish, some people speak Finnish. and Italian. The 87% of the population is protestant and 13% belong to other religions: Catholicism, Orthodox and Buddhism. Sweden is a constitutional monarchy.

The capital is Stockholm and the other most important cities are Göteborg and Malmo.

Around the year 1400, an attempt was made to include Sweden, Norway, and Denmark into one kingdom, but this caused a fight between the Danes and the Swedes. Sweden took part in the Thirty Years’ War. With the peace of Westphalia, Sweden obtained western Pomerania and some territories on the Baltic. During World War 1°, Sweden remained neutral. The country joined the European union in 1995.

The agricultural and breeding products are: barley, wheat, sugar beet, meat and milk. Forestry is also very important. The most important industrial products are: iron, steel, paper and wood products, motor vehicles. Major exports: wood products, high technology, engineering products Major imports: other engineering products, foodstuffs, textiles Tourism
