Overcoming Ingratitude “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.” (Psalm 100:4) Title Slide—Overcoming Ingratitude (Psa.100:4)

Overcoming Ingratitude Ingratitude Is a Sin “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” (2 Timothy 3:1-5) Overcoming Ingratitude—Ingratitude is a SIN! Sometimes, ingratitude is a byproduct of association with evil companions (2 Tim.3:1-5) Such companions can influence us to fail to express gratitude and thankfulness for what God has done for us!

Overcoming Ingratitude Ingratitude Is a Sin “Because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools.” (Romans 1:19-22) Overcoming Ingratitude—Ingratitude is a SIN! Lack of gratitude does not show honor toward God. (Rom.1:19-22) Instead of acknowledging the things that “scream” out the truth, “there is a God”, some openly reject Him! Failure to honor and glorify God as the Creator is the product of an unthankful heart. The world calls it wisdom; God calls it foolishness! (Psa.14:1) All life came from God. (Acts 17:28)

Overcoming Ingratitude We Should Always Give Thanks! “Pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17,18) “Giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 5:20) We Should Always Give Thanks! (1 Chronicles 29:11-15) Overcoming Ingratitude. Quote—1 Thess.5:17,18; Ephesians 5:20. Read 1 Chron.29:11-15—We should be in a constant state of thankfulness, understanding that all we have and all we hope to have came from God, and that anything we have accomplished in this life could not have been done without God’s help and love.

Overcoming Ingratitude We Should Always Give Thanks! (1 Chronicles 29:11-15; Ephesians 5:20) How Can We Overcome Ingratitude? Count Your Blessings—Not Your Bruises Overcoming Ingratitude. We Should Always Give Thanks. (1 Chron.29:11-15; Eph.5:20) How Can One Overcome Ingratitude? (1.) Count Your Blessings—Not Your Bruises! We need to bring to memory all the blessings God has given us! Our family, (spouse, children, grandchildren, etc) health, ability to work and provide for the family, the country in which we live, being forgiven, redemption in Christ, and most of all the LOVE God bestows on us every day! Focus on these and the few “bumps and bruises” will seem as nothing! (Phil.4:13; Rom.8:28-31)

Overcoming Ingratitude We Should Always Give Thanks! (1 Chronicles 29:11-15; Ephesians 5:20) How Can We Overcome Ingratitude? Accept Your Troubles—Without Complaining James 1:2,3; Romans 8:28; 1 Corinthians 10:10 Overcoming Ingratitude. We Should Always Give Thanks. (1 Chron.29:11-15; Eph.5:20) How Can We Overcome Ingratitude? (2.) Accept Your Troubles—Without Complaining! God told us there would be bumps in the road (Matt.5:45). Our troubles can strengthen us and make us depend more on God and less on ourselves. Don’t have a “pity party;” thank God for the opportunity to suffer. (2 Cor.4:16-18) Don’t think you’re the only one. (1 Pet.5:9)

Overcoming Ingratitude We Should Always Give Thanks! (1 Chronicles 29:11-15; Ephesians 5:20) How Can We Overcome Ingratitude? Acknowledge What You Have— and Would Not Trade Ephesians 1:3; John 14:1-4; Matthew 6:8; Ephesians 1:7 Overcoming Ingratitude. We Should Always Give Thanks. (1 Chron.29:11-15; Eph.5:20) How Can We Overcome Ingratitude? (3.) Acknowledge What You Have—and Would Not Trade! What would you do if you had to choose which “blessings” to give back to God? All spiritual blessings (Eph.1:3). Promise of a mansion on high (Jno.14:1-3). Can address GOD as my Father (Matt.6:8). Forgiveness of sins and redemption (Eph.1:7). “DOES IT GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS?” Yes it will!!!

Overcoming Ingratitude We Should Always Give Thanks! (1 Chronicles 29:11-15; Ephesians 5:20) How Can We Overcome Ingratitude? Remember Your Gifts—Instead of Coveting More 1 Timothy 6:6-8; Hebrews 13:5,6; Luke 12:16-21 Overcoming Ingratitude. We Should Always Give Thanks. (1 Chron.29:11-15; Eph.5:20) How Can We Overcome Ingratitude? (4) Remember Your Gifts—Instead of Coveting More! What you brought into this world is what you will take out—be content! (1 Tim.6:6-8) God has promised He will never leave or forsake you. (Heb.13:5,6) Be thankful for what you have and for how much God has blessed your life. (Lk.12:16-21)
