Jehoram (Judah)  God smote Jehoram with an incurable disease of the bowels  He suffered two years before he died

A Shunammite Woman  The woman held him until noon then he died  She placed the boy in Elisha’s bed  She had a donkey saddled and set out for Mt Carmel where Elisha lived  Elisha saw her coming and sent Gehazi to meet her Is everything alright?

A Shunammite Woman  She would not stop to talk to Gehazi  She rushed on to Elisha  She fell at Elisha’s feet and could not speak for her distress  The Lord had not told Elisha the reason for her coming  Elisha sent Gehazi Lay my staff on the boy’s face

A Shunammite Woman  She would not leave Elisha  Elisha went with her  Gehazi met them saying the staff had no effect  Elisha Went in and shut the door He prayed He stretched himself over the boy’s body Elisha walked around and repeated

A Shunammite Woman  The boy began to sneeze  Then opened his eyes  Call the Shunammite  Take your son  She fell at Elisha’s feet in profound gratitude  She took her son and went out

Elisha Purifies Stew  There was a famine is the land  He was with the sons of the prophets  Put on a pot of stew  One man gathered herbs and wild gourds  He ground these into the stew Not knowing they were poisonous and very bitter

Elisha Purifies Stew  When they began to eat the stew they tasted the bitterness and knew something was wrong  Elisha asks for some meal  He puts it in the stew  Then they dipped for each one  There was nothing harmful in the stew

Jehoram (Judah)  Good people in Judah felt relief  Glad his evil influence was gone  Ahaziah his son is the next king Mother was Athaliah  What do you think will be said of Ahaziah? Evil king Lessons 1 – will good people be glad my bad influence is gone? 2 – how can I make my influence good and godly people really mourn when I die? Egyptians mourned for him seventy days Genesis 50:3 Forty days were required for him, for such are the days required for those who are embalmed; and the Egyptians mourned for him seventy days. all the house of Israel mourned for Aaron thirty days.
