Rhône-Alpes Step First stage : 1697 small towns from montain (less than inhabitants) Second stage : 207 selected small towns answering to 3 critera does not belong to an urban unit of more than inhabitants can be a pole of rural employment, a pole of intermediary services or a pole of community services does not belong to suburbs or peri-urban areas Third stage : call to candidature with the small towns for consultancy and valorization of experiment, 20 answers of towns or regrouping of communities Fourth stage : diagnosis/advice and valorization of experiment in a sustainable development prospect

Diagnosis/advice 21 projects or process of development, 20 towns or regrouping of communities : Economic development/regional planning (7) : to maintain populations, valorisation of the down town, accessibility, traffic organisation, searching a better coherence Services (3) : opening a multi-services shop, creation of a day nursery, developing a center of health Formation (1) : to offer a formation specialized for developing countries Tourism (4) : soft tourism infrastructures for transport and housing, snow-blowers, governance (participation of the population) Handicraft (3) : opening a shop, development of the activity Culture/historical patrimony (3) : promotion, development Calendar : May 2005 : public market (advertising on the Rhône-Alpes web site…) End of May 2005 : selection of consultants October 2005 : end of consultancy
