Exodus Second part of Exodus The covenant between God and Israel

Sinai Also called Sinai Peninsula, a triangular peninsula in Egypt It is situated between the Mediterranean Sea to the north, and the Red Sea to the south, and is the only part of Egyptian territory located in Asia as opposed to Africa, effectively serving as a land bridge between two continents

Route of the Exodus

The Tabernacle The Tabernacle ("residence" or "dwelling place"), according to the Hebrew Bible, was the portable dwelling place for the divine presence from the time of the Exodus from Egypt through the conquering of the land of Canaan.

an inner shrine (named Holy of Holies) housing the Ark of the Covenant and an outer chamber (Holy Place) with a golden lampstand, table for showbread, and altar of incense.

The Tabernacle God told Moses to make Him a sanctuary (called a tabernacle), a place where He could be among His people, and provided all the details of how it was to be constructed. He also gave instructions for a chest to be made which would be called the Ark of the Covenant and gave Moses two stone tablets containing the Ten Commandments to put inside. The tabernacle was to be made of fine materials and would consist of a Holy Place and a Most Holy Place. The latter would be separated by a curtain and would house the Ark of the Covenant. He made Aaron, Moses’s brother, the High Priest and Aaron’s sons Priests and told them what clothing to make for themselves.

When Moses came down from the mountain he saw that the people had become wild. They had taken their gold jewelry, melted it down and made a golden calf that they were worshiping. He became angry with them and threw down the tablets, smashing them to pieces. He commanded that those people be put to death and God brought down a plague on the rest to punish them. Moses went back up the mountain and pleaded with God to forgive them and the plague ended, and He replaced the two tablets containing the law.

After the tabernacle was constructed, God settled a cloud over it during the day and a pillar of fire at night. In the morning if the cloud was there they stayed where they were and when it was lifted the Israelites moved on.
