Objectives List the safety rules on a quiz with 100% accuracy. Label all parts of the MIG welder with 100% accuracy on a handout. Describe the process of set up and maintenance of a MIG welder with 80% accuracy on a handout. List things that can be welded on a handout with 80% accuracy.

Reasons to Learn Why do we need to know how to MIG weld? Why is safety important? Why do we need to know the parts of a MIG welder?

Questions To Answer What can you weld with a MIG welder? What are some advantages of MIG welding? What are some safety rules for using a MIG welder? What are some parts of a MIG welder?

Helmet Nozzle Gel Mig pliers Gun Voltage Square Whip Ground Power switch Wire speed Gloves Regulator

MIG Safety 1.Make sure all welding cables and their connections are in good repair. 2.Wear welding gloves, helmet, leather apron, welding chaps, leather shoes, and other personal protective equipment. 3.Never touch an electrical connection, a bare wire, work or a machine part which may cause electrical shock 4.Never weld with flammables in your pocket 5.Use pliers or tongs to handle hot metal from MIG welding process.

MIG Safety Cont. 6.Select the correct shaded lens 7.Make sure the pressure is set at 25 psi 8.Preform all welds in a well-ventilated area. 9.Do not attempt to repair or maintain a MIG welder without thorough knowledge 10.Turn off the welder before you leave the welding area.
