Christians are back in north east Nigeria

At the end of last year, Boko Haram launched a fierce attack in the Adamawa province of north east Nigeria, killing Christians, burning down churches and forcing many to flee.

In Michika, Christian men were rounded up and killed, while many others took refuge in the mountains. In Mubi, 147 churches and prayer houses were destroyed as Boko Haram declared an Islamic Caliphate. In Hong and Gombi, churches and Christian homes were torn down.

Serving In Mission is now helping Christian pastors return to these shattered towns.

We are working with the Evangelical Church of West Africa to pay pastors’ salaries, provide food for them, support trauma counsellors and build temporary worship shelters. We want to help pastors minister to their churches once more and ensure the gospel is being heard again in north east Nigeria. Please pray with us…

Father God, We thank you for the courage of those Christians who are returning to north east Nigeria. We pray that you would protect them, that you would strengthen their faith and help them be powerful beacons for you. We pray your love would surround all those who are mourning, all those who are fearful and all those who long for peace. We pray too that you would help those Christian pastors take your message of hope and salvation to all who have not heard it. In your name, Amen
