Current Activities Evaluation of future power architectures, including fuel cells, diesel electric hybrids, electric aircraft, more electric aircraft and other energy storage solutions Development and evaluation of intelligent power management systems to optimise future electric architectures for autonomous operation. Including a TSB funded study with ExoMars Rover Development of new energy sources such as mSOFC’s Integration of new energy sources into autonomous systems such as small electric UAV’s Development of novel energy use tools such as Exergy analysis Page 5

Current Facilities: Remote Power evaluation System (REPOS) Low Cost evaluation environment for remote and autonomous systems Simulate a wide range of subsystems including: propulsion, payload, communications, navigation etc. HITL test capability for component evaluation and demonstration Wide array of programmable hardware, with 15kW of power supplies and 3kW of programmable loads. Fuel Cell test chamber with regulated hydrogen supply (installation mid 2012) Page 6
