Santa Fe Santa Fe means “the Holy Faith” in Spanish. It is called “the City Different.” Located in Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Can snow as early as October and as late as May. Santa Fe is the highest capital city in the United States at 7,000 feet above sea level. Averages 14” rainfall and 30-34” of snow. Ski season for November-Easter. 2 nd oldest town in U.S. Founded 1607, before the Pilgrims! Indians lived here before it was Santa Fe, 1,000 years ago. Las Alamos participated in and tested the Manhattan project. It is often confused but, you do not need a passport to get into New Mexico unless you are not a U.S. citizen.
