The Declaration of Independence Written by Thomas Jefferson Jefferson many ideas from John Locke Congress made 86 changes

January 10 1776 Thomas Paine’s pamphlet “Common Sense” is published July 2 1776 Congress votes in favor of Richard Henry Lee’s motion to declare the freedom and independence of the thirteen American colonies from England July 4 1776 The second Continental Congress met and approved the declaration of independence

Mobilizing for War Congress had to… Raise and organize an army Choose a commander for the Continental Army Provide supplies and equipment Pay for the war

Solving the Problems States had to resort to persuasion and force, to bounties and the draft George Washington becomes commander Congress asks for money from the states, but it never receives enough Ended up having to issue paper-currency (inflation)
