CICMH’s Mandate To help Ontario’s colleges and universities enhance capacity to support student mental health and well-being  CICMH will develop and implement mechanisms and tools to facilitate the sharing of resources, knowledge, local wisdom, best and promising practices, programs and policies in campus mental health.

CICMH’s Role / Core Functions CICMH as a centralized source/clearing house Provide up-to-date campus mental health info, events, resources, tools, best and promising practices, programs and policies. (Knowledge push/Transfer). CICMH for centralized knowledge exchange Foster KE (re: campus mental health and wellness) across Ontario’s post-secondary sector. Identify and relay what’s going on across the province in an easy to understand way. (Knowledge Exchange). CICMH as a knowledge broker/match-maker Facilitating partnerships to mobilize individual and collective efforts; identify areas for collaboration.

‘Ask the Expert’ Webinar Series 16 webinars to date Average registration per webinar: 171 On average, 75% of attendees said the webinar was excellent or very good. On average, 87% of attendees said they will incorporate the webinar’s learnings into their work.

Goals for Student Leader Day 1.Relationship building and knowledge exchange between student leaders and CICMH. 2.To learn more about Ontario’s innovative student-led campus mental health and wellness initiatives. 3.To learn how CICMH can best meet the needs of student leaders and engage them in our work and activities. 4.To engage student leaders in Ontario’s Campus Mental Health discussions via the online Community of Practice and upcoming Events.

Needs Assessment Results 1.Student leaders want CICMH to work with student leaders. In order to do that CICMH needs to understand:  What student leaders’ priority areas are in campus mental health  What their professional development needs are. 2.CICMH to bring student leaders together for KE/sharing and professional development via CICMH events, webinars and online platform. 3.CICMH to identify and share promising programs, practices and policies relevant to student leaders’ needs. 4.Engage student leaders in CICMH’s work (e.g., student blog, webinars, events).

Priority Areas Identified 1.Increasing student engagement and voice in campus mental health and wellness strategies. 2.Faculty providing accommodations for students with mental health issues. 3.Access to counselling services and student voice / engagement in improving services and access. 4.Student-led mental health initiatives. What really works? 5.Mental health prevention and promotion in residence. What really works? 6.Student mental health and wellness course for credit 7.MHFA / Safe TALK for all student leaders? Sustainable solutions?
