Presentation transcript:

Courthouse Green Network News Pupil voice at Courthouse Green is stronger than it has ever been! That means that YOU, the children of our school, get to have a BIG say in what happens in and around school. The CGNN team came up with a list of ways in which our pupils get the chance to help make decisions in school: Our highly commended Junior Leadership Team (they are elected by you to represent your views). Us at the CGNN! As reporters we get to help decide what goes in the school’s weekly newspaper. Our Learning Forums (these allow pupils to have a say about what they might be taught). Our bronze award winning Eco-council (these help make decisions about how we care for the school environment). In fact there were so many ways that we ran out of newspaper but there is also the Sports Leaders, the Anti-bullying Champions, the Head boy and girl, the Prefects …. Reporters: TJ Gilder, Jerel Fearon, Zaara Imran, Ruby Muttit, and Lauren Downs. Editor: Mr Davoile Pupil voice at Courthouse Green has never been so strong! Questions: What is democracy? Why is important that children get to say how the school is ran? Do you feel you have the opportunity to say how the school is ran? Tell your partner 3 ways you get to have a say about how the school is run. Issue 3 – Friday 25 th September 2015.

What it means to you? In assembly last week the pupil leaders were announced and CGNN decided to ask them how they felt about being elected! When I was elected I was amazed since I didn’t know if I was going to be picked. I have never smiled so much. I was shaking and crossing my fingers because I wanted to be picked. Russell on being elected Head Boy. Romani on being elected Head Girl. I felt happy about being nominated for the JLT. I also feel more confident because people think I will do a good job. I felt excited because I have never been nominated for anything before. Ethan on being elected Eco- councillor. Kiera on being elected JLT representative.

Happening in coventry A unexploded World War Two bomb was found in Chelseymore last week. Construction workers came across whist laying foundations for a new building. They quickly called the police who called the Bomb disposal team. The bomb disposal team then spent the day building up a huge wall of sandbags before detonated the bomb in a controlled explosion. Witnesses said that they could feel the shock waves even outside the ‘no-go’ zone and some people reported that car windows shattered because of the blast. Questions: How would you feel if you were near the bomb? If you knew the bomb was about to explode who OR what would you save? Questions: How would you feel if you were near the bomb? If you knew the bomb was about to explode who OR what would you save? Don’t panic – it is highly unlikely you will come into contact with an unexploded bomb.

Questions: Remind you partner of what Ramadan is. Explain to your partner why Muslims celebrate the end of Ramadan. What other religious buildings do you see on or around the Stoney Stanton Road? Although our school is made up of many different religions what unites us as a school? As British citizens? Happening across the world. Millions of Muslims all around the world and in Courthouse Green Primary School were celebrating the end of Ramadan last week. The festival, called Eid al-Fitr, means: 'festival of the breaking of the fast' and it is one of the biggest celebrations in the Islamic year. A quick re-cap…. The month of Ramadan is a time for spiritual reflection, prayer, doing good deeds and spending time with family and friends. During Ramadan, Muslims avoid eating from dawn until sunset for about a month.month of Ramadan Eid al-Fitr On the day of Eid al-Fitr, Ramadan is over and Muslims often celebrate by praying, giving gifts and having a big feast with family and friends. Eid celebrations begin when a new crescent moon appears in the evening sky, which means that Eid can be on a different day each year. The mosque on Stoney Stanton Road was very busy last Thursday morning.
