"Non viduri sed esse” "Not to be seen but to be.” -Tycho Brahe

EARLY LIFE Tycho Brahe was born in Denmark December 14 1546 to Otto Brahe and Beatte Bille. He was Raised by his Uncle Jorgen Brahe who was a Sailor. Tycho came from a long line of Danish Nobility Pressured by his family to become a lawyer, he chose to pursue a career in Astronomy. He attended the universities of Copenhagen and Leipzig, and then traveled through the German region, studying further at the universities of Wittenberg, Rostock, and Basel. He lost his nose in a duel with a fellow student over who was the better mathematician.

Tycho’s Fortune Tychos uncle Jorgen gave his life to save King Fredrick II from drowning. Tycho inherited Jorgens estate Tycho gained the King’s favor and generous support. The King gives Tychos the Isand Hven to make an observatory Tycho built a castle on the island Called Uraniborg, after the Goddess of the sky Urania

CAREER Telescopes had not been invented. Tycho made his observations with his naked eye. Tycho created accurate and precise observations about the Planets Orbits especially Mars. Tycho Created the Geo-Heliocentric Theory on the belief that; Earth was static and that the celestial bodies revolved around the Earth’s axis every day, from east to west while the other planets revolved around the Sun. While the sun would annually revolve around Earth.

Geo-Heliocentric Theory

Tychos Impact For over 20 years he used his Island to make Astronomical Observations using only a sextant and a compass He observed the creation of a new star “supernova” but really witnessed the explosion of a star for 18 months Designed far more accurate ways for measuring arc minutes. Created the Tychonian Quadrant to more accurately measure planetary angles. Which later improve observational equipment. His observations about planetary orbit would later be used in establishing the Helio-Centric Theory.

Tychos Death After a falling out with the King of Denmark Tycho moved to prague. He acquired an assitant in Prague named Johannes Keplar Tycho Died after attending the banquet of a Nobleman Keplar continued Tychos research later to use them as the basis to the Laws of Planetary Movement. His last words were “May I not seemed to have lived in vain” "Ne frusta vixisse vidar” –Tycho Brahe
