Regulatory Overview WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directive 2002/96/EC of the European Parliament –Implementation Date Beginning August 13, 2005 –Regulates the treatment, recycling, and disposal of electrical and electronic waste. –Recycling Law

WEEE Support for Europe WEEE Recycling Program Implementation dates vary by country –UK pushed out the August 13 th date –Some countries are maintaining or are reluctant to move out date at this time While ultimate responsibility under local law is still unclear, 3M Touch equipment will be taken back from European customers and sent to a 3 rd party recycling facility for recycling and/or proper disposal by either 3M Touch Systems or the party deemed responsible under local law.

Regulatory Overview RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive 2002/95/EC of the European Parliament –Implementation Date: July –Restricts the sale of products in the EU that have certain levels of hazardous material beginning in July, 2006 Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Hexavalent Chromium, Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB), Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE) –Adoption of this directive is taking place in in many countries, including some states within the US Adoption is taking place in China Adoption has occurred in California for computers and televisions, with 1/07 as an effective date.
