Preliminaries  Pre-class (10 constructed response points)  Launch Excel.  Set up a spreadsheet where four students have turned in two tests and two homework assignments. Include the scores of each test and homework for all students. Also include a column for a test average and one for the homework.  John Jones: test #1 = 85, test #2 = 90, homework #1 = 75 and homework #2 = 82  Sally Smith: test #1 = 80, test #2 = 83, homework #1 = 100 and homework #2 = 91  Bill Turner: test #1 = 63, test #2 = 89, homework #1 = 95 and homework #2 = 68  Charles Cohen: test #1 = 100, test #2 = 91, homework #1 = 86 and homework #2 = 73  HINT: leave cell A1 blank; students get entered in rows; tests, homeworks and averages get entered in columns.

Homework: Essay Planning Forms  Essay pre-write forms (due TODAY for 20 constructed response pts.)  Thesis statement  3 topic sentences with specific supporting evidence beneath each topic sentence

Excel Review  Be able to freeze the top row of a workbook.  Be able to add a graphic.  Be able to add formulas to a worksheet to calculate sums over defined ranges of values (by rows and columns).  Be able to copy values from one range of cells to another.  Be able to draw attention to certain cells by adding borders around them.

Focus Lesson Objectives: Conditional Formatting  Calculate yearly totals for each expense in column “N”.  Calculate monthly expense totals in the row immediately beneath your last expense.  Calculate the monthly proceeds (income minus expenses)  Be able to apply certain formatting attributes to ranges of cells which meet certain criteria.
