Savoury Rice Healthy Eating Unit

LEARNING INTENTIONS To be confident using the hob and be aware of ‘heat control’. To be able to make a low fat, energy based meal. To be able to work safely and hygienically.

EQUIPMENT Pot Wooden spoon Plate Jug Galley pot Chopping board & grip Knife

INGREDIENTS 50g long grain rice (bowl) 200 ml vegetable stock (small jug) 5ml oil (pot) 1/4 onion (large plate) 10ml peas (large plate) 10ml sweetcorn (large plate) 5ml curry powder (galley pot)

METHOD 1. Peel and chop the onion. 2. Heat oil and fry onion for 2 minutes. 3. Add the rice and stir. 4. Add the stock, peas, sweetcorn and curry powder. 5. Simmer for 15 minutes, until rice is tender. (lid on) 6. Taste, season and serve.
