ABOUT THE PSAT It's a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT ®. It also gives students a chance to qualify for scholarships Gain access to college and career planning tools. ARLETA HIGH SCHOOL

THE PSAT/NMSQT INCLUDES FIVE SECTIONS: Two 25 minute Critical reading skills sections Totaling 48 questions Two 25 minute Math problem-solving skills sections Totaling 38 questions One 30 minute Writing skills section Totaling 39 questions The whole test requires two hours and 10 minutes ARLETA HIGH SCHOOL

THE MOST COMMON REASONS FOR TAKING THE PSAT/NMSQT ARE TO: Receive feedback on your strengths and weaknesses on skills necessary for college study See how your performance on an admissions test might compare with that of others applying to college. Enter the competition for scholarships (grade 11). Help prepare for the SAT. Receive information from colleges when you check "yes" to Student Search Service. ARLETA HIGH SCHOOL

SCORING For every RIGHT answer you RECEIVE 1 point For every WRONG answer you get DECUCTED ¼ of a point For OMITTED answers you receive zero points Important to read directions and when in doubt, take an educated guess. If you cannot, then skip! ARLETA HIGH SCHOOL
