iMovie Editing

Record The Flip Video – Then, launch iMove11 before plugging in the Flip Video to the laptop. – Go to File>New Project, for clean new start. Select No Theme ( can add Theme later)  Click create

Import the Flip Video After plugging in Flip to laptop, it will automatically look for the movie. Click Import all

Drag The Movie to the Project Area Select the movie clip by clicking and dragging the imported clip to the project screen. Tip: you can select and move part of the movie clip from the original movie clip to work on. This will reduce an extra cutting. Stretch the movie clip image to help see more details for editing. This button works as timeline.

To Split the Movie Clip Set the red bar where you want to split it in the Project Library by clicking twice so the red bar stays in place. (inspector box will pop up but do not worry about it.) Go to the top menu and select Clip>Split Clip Select the unwanted clip by clicking and dragging the yellow line, then press delete key on keyboard.

To Add Images Click the camera button to get an image from iPhoto. Or, drag images from the Desktop

Add Transitions Between Clips 1. Click transition button 2. Select desired transition 3. Drag the selected transition to add it between clips where desired

Add Text to the Title, Transition & Ending Page 1. Click the T button 2. Select designs then drag them to front/ between/ending part of the movie clip. 3. Once you place the design where desired, iMovie will Automatically ask you to choose the background. 4. Click twice in text box in the preview screen then type your desired text

Add Subtitles 1. Click the text button 2. Select the text design 3. Click then drag the design to the top of the clip 4. Click  hold  drag to Place the title box where desired 5. Click twice on the text box in the preview screen then type the desired text

Change Font & Color 1. Click Show Fonts 2. Select fonts style and color

Change Text Duration 1. Click the text box above the clip 2. Click the Duration box then change the duration time to make the text longer or a shorter time on the clip.

Add Background Music Click the music button Select and click to find music. Choose a sound effect or music, Click  hold  drag near to the movie clip. Or Click  hold  drag a saved mp3 music from desktop. Tip: If the music is too short, you can add more music by repeating the steps above.

Add Music to Small Section of a Clip Select music  hold  drag then drop on top of the clip If you want to change the location, select and hold the box and then slide side ways to move the music to the location you want. This box will pop up then click twice to change the duration of the music clip

Audio Editing Make sure the timeline button is clicked. Clicked the sound wave button to see the sound editing area.

Audio Editing Click  hold  drag to select the desired area Click the top sound line  hold  drag up or down to increase or decrease the sound level. The little yellow dots at each end of the yellow box can be clicked and dragged to change volume. Tip: you can do this in multiple areas.

Background Sound Editing Click  drag to select the area Click the top sound line  hold  drag to lower or increase the sound. Little yellow dots are at each end of the yellow box. Click and hold the yellow dots to change the volume.

Save Project (to edit later) Just close the iMove program, it will automatically save the project When you are ready to edit, find the saved project from event library.

Export iMovie Type the file name Select Medium size to export the movie Select the desired export location Share  Export using Quick time
