Implementation of Water Assets Accounts and updating Water Exploitation Index (WEI+) -Water scarcity conditions and quantitative use of water in Europe -Assessing resource efficieny and sustainability of water use across Europe -Providing further information on Natural Capital Accounting of Water 1.Flow accounts (a) Physical supply and use tables (b) Emission accounts (c) Hybrid and economic accounts 2. Asset accounts (a) Produced assets (b) Water resources (c) Quality accounts 3. Valuation of non-market flows

Regional and seasonal differentiations in WEI across Europe (comparion of both formulas) F1 F2

Main outcomes -Both formula indicate that rivers and groundwater bodies are under pressures especially in summer. -Reservoirs are playing very curcial role in supporting seasonal water demands in summer by almost tripling their water supply to the economy -Resource efficieny measures are needed to be implemented particularly in water supply and agricultural sectors -Further investigations are needed in analysing which WEI formula better captures the field realities

Uncertainities -Horizontal and vertical aggregation don’t have one-to-one relation between hydrological and administrative boundaries -Negative values of Renewable water resources due to higher Eta values in summer -Negative values of Water Use due to higher Return values -General uncertainities from the missing data
