Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park

This September I took a quick trip out to California and while out there I really wanted to visit the giant redwoods and sequoias that everybody hears about. My mom, dad and I went to see them and were amazed and at a loss for words at the sheer beauty and size of these immaculate trees. We had never, in Pennsylvania, seen or experienced anything as jaw dropping as these trees. I learned lots of cools facts here and took plenty of sweet pictures of these tress. Below you will find these pictures with small captions and maybe a few facts.

This image shows the dense population of trees contained in the area. This image shows the rings on the trees and what they mean.

This image does not do justice to the immense height of these that can reach up to 275 feet tall. This image shows how intricate and unique the trunks of Sequoia trees can be.

This image shows a trunk of only one of the many Redwood trees contained in this national park. This image shows the trunk of the Giant Sherman which is the largest sequoia on earth. It is over 2,000 years old.

I’m so happy that I took the time to see these trees that I was always hearing about. I definitely learned a lot that I never knew about these beautiful tress and it was cool to be able to take in their beauty and size. It showed me that nature can create some pretty great things if we just give it the time and resources that it needs. Allowing these trees to grow and preserving them in a national park for many generations to come is such a wonderful thing and I will take my kids back here one day and recommend to anybody heading out to California to make a quick pit stop here, definitely worth the time.
