Implementation in SQL Server Business Definition Dimensional Model 2

 Established August 2012  Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned small business  Focused on engineering solutions  Control Systems  Automation  Currently working for private sector contracts  Future: Bid for federal contracts 3

 Are government contracts viable?  Which NAICS codes are most widely used in federal contracts?  Would Blaze have a niche to fill?  Which government agency(s) should the company focus on?  How many contracts are awarded based on NAICS coded? 4

 Are federal opportunity useful for small businesses looking for opportunities?  Can data warehouse and OLAP help locate new opportunities with ease?  Can data warehouse and OLAP find trend in opportunities based on locations, agencies and business types? 5

 Opportunities across all federal departments  - Single point of entry for vendors  Website has search capability and FAQs for any business opportunity for vendors  Opportunities are also listed based on NAICS (North American Industry Classification)  Has links to download data as well 6

WHAT IS IT?  North American Industry Classification System  Created to collect statistical data relating to the U.S. business economy  Focused on grouping by similar processes to produce goods or services HOW TO USE IT?  Small businesses need to submit for contract based on NAICS code  Important to align business competencies with correct NAICS code ▪ When registering all NAICS codes are documented  Search for contracts in database based on 6-digit code. 7

 54 Professional, Scientific and Technical Services  : Custom Computer Programming Services  : Computer Systems Design Services  : Other Computer Related Services  : Research and Development in the Physical, Engineering, and Life Sciences (except Biotechnology)  51 Information  : Data Processing, Hosting and Related Services  61 Educational Services  Computer Training 8

ALL NAICS CODES BY AGENCY NAICS CODE Conclusion: Based solely on set aside code there has been a significant drop-off of awards offered. Focusing on set-aside code and NAICS code only may not yield enough leads.

26 Award Count By Quarter Report: Count of all awards by year and quarter. Sliced to view NAICS Group Id 54 only. Conclusion: There is no definitive answer as to the best quarter to search for awards. Seems to vary by quarter and year

27 Conclusion: Award amount has significantly dropped in recent years. Though a small business may still benefit from receiving an award less than $100 million. Other factors will have to be assessed (materials, hours, wages, etc.)

29

30 By utilizing Excel’s Find and Select Functionality, Blaze can search for awards based on certain key words.

31 Blaze Technology, LLC is interested in assisting certain federal agencies. This list shows The potential awards for these agencies based on Blaze’s three key NAICS Group IDs.

32 For Fiscal Year 2015, so far the award amount has totaled over $9 million. Though Blaze may want to focus energy on specific agencies, this report shows that “Other Defense Agencies” and “Social Security Administration” posted the largest award amounts for 2015.

 The number of awards has dropped significantly since  Award amounts have dropped since 2013 but may still be viable for a small business  Award posting date by NAICS code fluctuates quarterly, no trend seen.  NAICS Code 54 has the most potential versus Code 51 and 61.  Bottom line: Federal Business Opportunities can not be the sole source of income for Blaze Technology, LLC. 33
