The theme of the lesson Technology

Aim: to consolidate the topic; to encourage students to talk about the most important technological discoveries Skills: listening, speaking on the topic

Find definitions to the following words: 1. DNA a) a form of energy 2. gene b) a group of atoms 3. molecule c) a substance capable of killing bacteria 4. microchip d) a part of a cell inherited from parents 5. electricity e) genetic information about humans 6. bacteria f) a very small electric circuit 7. antibiotic g) small living things that cause diseases

Items to discuss: 1.Does technology make our lives easier? 2.Do we rely too much on technology? 3.What technical advances can you see happening in your lifetime? 4.Would you like to be an inventor? 5.What kind of things would you invent? 6.How will the world change over the next years?

“Genius must be born, And never can be taught.” Dryden «Гением надо родиться.» Драйден

Lomonosov founded the first chemical laboratory in Lomonosov was a great physicist, chemist and astronomer. He formulated the main principles of one of the laws of physics-the law of conservation of matter and motion (закон сохранения материи и движения). He was recognized as one of the outstanding persons in the world in the XVIII century. Lomonosov Mikhail Vasilievich

Michael Faraday Michael Faraday discovered how to make an electrical motor in the XVIII century. He built the first generator. The modern car has both a starting motor and a generator. Then he discovered the effect of passing an electric current through certain solutions. He called these effects the laws of electrolysis.

Bell invented the telephone. Edison invented the electric light.

Albert Einstein demonstrated the theory of relativity (теория относительности). Then Edwin Hubble proved that the universe is expanding.

Fleming discovered an effective way of killing bacteria-penicillin in the XIX century.

“Knowledge is a city, to the building of which every human being brought a stone.” Emerson

In 1946 a Huge Electronic computer was produced. Later the scientist Linus Torvalds from Finland designed a computer operating system, called Linux. Operating systems are very important, because they control how computers work. Computers have changed the lives of the people.

The ability of computers and robots to do things without humans Microchip-a very small electric circuit made of silicon Molecule-a group of atoms

Film about the UFO

Many years ago people saw a UFO in the sky. It was the UFO with aliens called Greenhumanity. They were green and very amusing. Greenhumanity aliens landed in the big city. The people were afraid of them. But one man, John Sparow who was very brave and resolute soon made an acquaintance with the aliens. The aliens were very happy and soon they found common language to communicate. Two days later the scientist John Sparow and the aliens left the Earth. People from the Earth and the aliens became friends. They invented new robots and super gadgets. They also invented spaceships to control space. They also studied new planets and stars. In future they will build modern buildings with the latest conveniences.
