Structure and Structural calculation for Recuperative Heat Exchanger Recuperative Heat Exchanger Presented by -- Jinying Zhu

Material: stainless steel 304 Mechanical properties Allowable stress (MPa) : Modulus of Elasticity (GPa) : Poisson’s Ratio : 0.305

Structure parameters: Passage number: 200*200 Δp: 27atm The size of passages: 200μm*200μm Red: hot flow blue: cold flow

Structure: main heat exchange part connector (the next four pictures supplied by Ray)

Structural calculation result: (for main heat exchange part) Thickness(μm) max. stress (MPa) max. displacement(μm) * * * *10 -3 :by using the software Ideas 9 Strength in the main heat exchanger part is not a problem.

Connector: Connector: Material Mechanics: W (N/m) L b h

Connector: Material Mechanics: M =wL 2 /12 I =bh 3 /12 σ =Mc/I=PL 2 /(2h 2 ) We need to add some support in the connector for L has a large value comparing to h.

Connector supporting structure: L1L1 High press. flow Low press. flow thickness

Structural calculation result: (for connector) Thickness(μm) max. stress (MPa) max. displacement(μm) :by using the software Ideas 9 The strength of connector is our focus in structural consideration.

Future work: Thermal-calculation Optimization of structure (thickness, stress and displacement)
