Incentives to Join Solidary Incentives: Sense of pleasure/companionship that arises our of meeting together in small groups. Material Incentives: Money or things valued in monetary terms.

Material Incentives They provide members low-cost life insurance, mail-order discount drugs, group travel plans… 45% of our nations 50 and older population belong to AARP. That’s one in ever 4 registered voters Do you think they influence public policy?

Tonight’s Homework Choose one of the interest groups on page 264 or one that you are interested in learning about. What, if any, influence do each of these lobbies wield in your state? Since lobbyists groups have proliferated, so you think they are too powerful?
