SATURN BY ZACH THOMSON

6TH PLANET FROM THE SUN Saturn is the 6th planet from the sun after Jupiter. Saturn was named after a roman god Saturn. Saturn is a gas giant. Saturn. Saturn was discovered by Chirstitaan Huygen in 1659. Saturn has 60 moons.

SATURN’S RINGS ARE SPECIAL If you you look from a powerful telescope you can see three to four rings but there could be more. Scientists think that the rings are made of ice, rock and dust. The rings can be as thick as 3 miles and as thin as 200 yards. Saturn is nothing without its rings.

TITAN IS THE BIGGEST MOON OF SATURN Titan is 50% more massive than the Earth’s moon. Titan is the second biggest moon in the solar system. Titan is the only known moon in the solar system with a atmosphere. In 2004 scientists sent a probe to Titan. Titan is the most studied moon.

WEATHER ON SATURN IS NOT LIKE EARTH The temperature on Saturn is about -218° F. Saturn is very cold because it is so far away from the sun. Wind on Saturn is stronger then 1,000 miles per hour. Weather on Saturn is very cold and windy.

VOCABULARY Massive - Big. Telescope - Piece of technology that you put your eye up to make something bigger. Atmosphere - It is gas that surrounds all planets. Probe – It is a spacecraft that you shout out to space to study something. Astronomer - Is someone who studies planets , moons , stars , galaxies and other stuff in space.
