Faith 11 PEACE & REST; THE FAITH ENVIRONMENT

Mark 4: On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, "Let us cross over to the other side." 36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling.

38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him,"Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?" 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace, be still!" And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

40 But He said to them, "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?" 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, "Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!" NKJV

Mark 4:35 35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, "Let us cross over to the other side." Where does God want to go with you? Can you trust His timing and forecast, or would you rather use experience?

Mark 4:36 36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. What multitude do you need to leave behind? What company do you need to go with?

Mark 4:37 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. I thought it was God’s idea; why the storm? Which of your God given dreams are taking a beating and seemingly going down?

Mark 4:38 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?" How could I possibly have both God and a storm at the same time? Why is He “asleep” and not joining the effort, doesn’t He care?

Mark 4:39 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace, be still!" And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. Why does He make it look so easy; just speaking instead of fighting? Is this the lead I should be following?

Mark 4:40 40 But He said to them, "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?" What is it that makes my faith ineffective in the storm? Can I just follow His example and pick up a pillow??!!!

Mark 4:41 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, "Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!" What kind of God have we inherited? Could it be that we still fight and struggle because we don’t know who is on board?

Isa 26:3 3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.

Ps 46: God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 3 Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling.
