UNUSUAL ENROLLMENT HISTORY FLAG (UEH) Presented by: Theresa Cowan Associate Vice-President Student Affairs/Financial Aid Broward College

WHAT IS UNUSUAL ENROLLMENT The UEH Flag indicates whether the student has an unusual enrollment history with regard to the receipt of Federal Pell Grant (Pell Grant) funds and is intended to address possible fraud and abuse in the title IV student aid programs. The specific enrollment patterns evaluated are  Where the student attends an institution long enough to receive title IV credit balance refund  Leaves without completing the enrollment period  Enrolls at another institution, and  Repeats the pattern of remaining just long enough to collect another title IV credit balance without having earned any academic credit Resource:

UNUSUAL ENROLLMENT AND THE ISIR  Unusual Enrollment is commented on the ISIR  Comment Code 359 is included when the UEH Flag value is ‘2, ’  Comment Code 360 is included when the UEH Flag value is ‘3’.

CLEARING THE UEH COMMENT CODE UEH FLAG 2  Check in NSLDS under Enrollment History to determine the enrollment pattern of the student for the last 4 award years.  Ask the student about their enrollment for the last 4 years using the information obtained from NSLDS.  Confirm the student’s intention to complete the current program  Discuss why the student did not complete prior program if an additional institution is listed in NSLDS within the last 4 award years.  If all 4 award years were at your institution no further action needed

CLEARING THE UEH COMMENT CODE UEH FLAG 3  Check in NSLDS under Enrollment History to determine the enrollment pattern of the student for the last 4 award years.  Ask the student about their enrollment for the last 4 years using the information obtained from NSLDS.  Order a transcript (official or unofficial is acceptable) of all institutions student attended within the last 4 award years  Possible meeting to discuss prior enrollments.  Evaluate the grades and progress and each institution.
