Tess: Tess is the main character in this book, she is eleven years old. Tess tells the story throughout the book. She has a little sister named Libby. Tess is kind and does not fight with her sister. She loves to go fishing with her dad on their boat. She would like to become a lobster fisher when she is older. Tess loves the small island she lives on and never wants to move. She is responsible and superstitious (believes in good luck.)

Libby: A small little girl who is five years old. She is confident and smart. She loves to play around and be with other girls. She doesn’t like lobster fishing but she is always begging everybody to play monopoly with her.

Aaron: Is a Thirteen year old trumpet player and piano player. He lived with his mother but she was not able to take care of him. Aaron went to go and live with his grandmother. Aaron is the foster child that Tess & her family adopt. They adopt him because the school needs more kids other wise the school will close. At first, Aaron is mean and grumpy. He wants nothing to do with anyone. He starts to play the trumpet at the talent show and at festivals. He becomes nice and funny.

Summary: touchblue is about a 11 year old girl who lives on a small island in Maine with her mom, dad and sister. When kids start to move away from the island and live on the main land the state threatens to close down the school because there are not enough children. Some of the island families adopt foster kids and put them in the school so it doesn’t close down. Tess and her family foster a kid named Aaron who is a musician. The family has trouble with him at first he is ignoring everyone and keeping mostly to himself. Aaron wants to go back to his mom but he is not allowed to even see her. Tess and Aaron have a plan to let Aaron see his mom again. Will it work? Read the book to find out.
