Have a Hot Time, Hades! Book by: Kate McMullan Power Point by: Nolan Kamoo

2 Summary This book is about Hades as a child and how he grows up to be Ruler of the Underworld. In the beginning Cronus (Hades’ evil dad) swallow’s all his children so they will never overrule him. When Mother Rhea (Cronus’ wife) tricks Cronus in to drinking bad herbs and throwing up all the children the children get away but Cronus chases after them. He falls into a river and rushes away. The children think they are safe and sound and will never see Cronus again. They take over Cronus’ palace on Mount Olympus. The children

3 Summary Continued are very surprised when they see Cronus and the rest of his gang near Mount Olympus. Cronus and his friends put up a huge fight and get Mount Olympus back. The children come up with a plan: they will play The Games (which are like the Olympics) against Cronus and his gang. Whoever wins gets Mount Olympus. But who will win? And if Hades and the other children win they will have to take Cronus’ spot and each have to rule something or someone. Read the book Have a Hot Time, Hades! To find out!

4 Character Traits I am going to tell you the character traits of Zeus and Mother Rhea. I think Zeus is sneaky and full of himself. I think he is sneaky because he is always trying to win things and do things without permission or tricks someone like when he won a poker game but only because he had a bunch of Aces in his sleeve. I think he is full of himself because he is always saying he is such a hero and how he is the best at everything. I think Mother Rhea is kind and helpful. I think she is kind because when Cronus (Zeus and Hades’

dad) swallow’s all his children Mother Rhea (Cronus’ wife) steps in and makes him drink bad herbs so he throws them all up. I think she is helpful because when all the children get thrown up and they escape from Cronus she does not just leave them she stays for a while, had a picnic with them and helped them get settled in.

6 Rating I would give this book a 10 out of 10 because I really liked all the Greek Mythology mixed in with a cool story. It was like learning in a fun way!
