More than 350 AIOTI members from 24 countries Large companies Start-ups To achieve these goals, in March 2015, the European Commission launched the Alliance for Internet of Things Innovation (AIOTI) to strengthen links and build new relationships between the different IoT players (industries, SMEs, startups) and sectors. It also promotes interoperability and convergence between standards, facilitating policy debates and preparing a Commission's initiative for large scale testing and experimentation, tabled for 2016. Forging new alliances between IoT sectors, stakeholders, large companies, SMEs and startups will help Europe get a global lead in this field and will foster a Digital Single Market for IoT, thus allowing the EU to reach revenues from the IoT of more than one trillion euros in 2020. Pursuing such an ambitious goal, although the Alliance has been recently born, it has already managed to join a large list of more than 450 members from different sectors, thus bringing together: Different industries: nanoelectronics/semiconductor companies, Telecom companies, Network operators, Platform Providers (IoT/Cloud), Security and Service providers. Different sectors: energy, utilities, automotive, mobility, lighting, buildings, manufacturing, healthcare, supply chains, cities, etc. Some of the worldwide largest companies: Alcatel, Bosch, Cisco, Hildebrand, IBM, Intel, Landis+Gyr, Nokia, ON Semiconductor, Orange, OSRAM, ABB, ACM, Philips, Samsung, Schneider Electric, Siemens, NXP Semiconductors, STMicroelectronics, Telecom Italia, Telefonica, Telit, Thales, Vodafone, Volvo, Huawei and counting. Many Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups   As explained above, the AIOTI members currently comprise many IoT industry players and successful start-ups, which is the evidence of the hard and intense work carried out by the AIOTI over the past few months. The next step is to involve more IoT players including SMEs and start-ups, as the Alliance for Internet of Things Innovation (AIOTI) is still open to new members. Membership is open to any entity (firm/corporation/association) recognised by law and have a distinct legal personality, that demonstrates having a legitimate interest in being part of the Alliance. Joining AIOTI: You become member of a unique network which brings together the European and world IoT key players across the value chain both from the private and public sector. You get a special link with the EU Institutions and the EU Member states. You contribute in the shaping of the EU policy-making on IoT. You are given the unique opportunity to contribute to the design of EU IoT large scale pilots 2016-2017. Later on, EU Member States will also be fully associated to this initiative boosting this dynamic ecosystem further.
