3 Use of M&S in Training M&S provides one of many methods for delivering learning content –Supports large training exercises and mission rehearsals –Primarily for collective (unit and staff) training –More limited use for individual (on-line) training –Learning content may be more effectively (and efficiently) provided through other means Effective training with M&S requires distributed and interoperable models and simulations Some benefits for use of M&S in training –Safety –Home station with global access –Reuse of scenarios and vignettes –Effective venue for many theater operations

6 TC AoA Needs Analysis Analysis Team identified 13 broad areas in which the Capabilities Base Case failed to fully meet training requirements Gap Analysis COCOMs and Services identified Joint Mission Essential Tasks (JMETs) Considered higher level guidance, e.g. QDR Training requirements and capabilities provided by Joint Training Review Group (JTRG) Additional data gathered from COCOMs, Services and Agencies Tiger team led by Joint Staff J7 expanded to a more detailed list of 35 items The 35 gaps were listed in priority order to form basis for effectiveness analysis Look at grouping and new priorities for Gaps and identify the top targets for development
