2 Multi resolution modeling and simulation solution
Fully addresses primary and secondary training audiences at every level from a Joint Force Command down to a single Special Forces team Supports a spectrum of operations from disaster assistance to asymmetric/hybrid conflict to wide-scale conventional combat

3 What Is GlobalSim? Joint Theater Level Simulation (R&A) GESI (CAE)
Introduction To JTLS October 2009 What Is GlobalSim? Joint Theater Level Simulation (R&A) Represents Warfare Environment At Operational Level Not Tactical Level GESI (CAE) Tactical Level Not Operational Level GlobalSim is a two model High Level Architecture (HLA) simulation federation combining an operational level model and a tactical level model. HLA is structure to link simulations. What is important in an HLA federation is the Federation Object Model (FOM) which is used to describe how the two models communicate. 4 Aggregate level simulation Covers theater area of operations
Entity level simulation Multiple areas of interest geographically separate

5 Difference Between GlobalSim And JLVC
FOM Aggregated Objects Entity Objects HLA Management Reliable Communications No Heartbeat Requirements Time Regulated Time Constrained Handles several Million entities in JTLS-GO, fewer in GESI FOM Entity Based Extremely Detailed Information HLA Management Broadcast Communications Heartbeat Status Requirement Best Effort Time Limited to approx 100K entities across federation There is no right and wrong way to create an HLA federation, but you need to understand the differences between two federations that are commonly used. The GlobalSim federation synchronizing the time represented in JTLS and GESI. There is a definite cause and effect relationship that can be maintained between the two models, Each model informs the HLA Run Time Infrastructure (RTI) program, the time of its next event. If GESI indicates that the next event is at 1004 and 32 seconds and JTLS indicates that the next event is at 1004 and 38 seconds, the RTI gives permission to GESI to execute its next event. Thus the RTI insures that the two models are synchronized in time. Conversely, in the JLVC, since there are so many federates, each federate is told to look at the system time and as much as possible stay close to the designated system clock. There are many benefits and inadequacies in both methodologies. ROLANDS & ASSOCIATES Corporation September 2019

6 GlobalSim Conceptual Diagram
(VBS3) The following is a brief conceptualized diagram of the GlobalSim Federation. JTLS is a global model and is capable of representing the full range of military operational level functions for air, land, naval, special forces, intelligence, and logistics at the aggregated unit level. The Combat Events Program (CEP) is the actual model and it provides full status information concerning the represented objects to the JTLS Object Data Authority or JODA. The JTLS Entity Level Simulation (ELS) takes this aggregated data, such as Unit A had 5 Tanks, 12 APC, and 3 Towed Artillery pieces and using a four-level template structure keeps track of the exact location of each entity. This entity location information is published on the Entity Object Data Authority (EODA). The JTLS HLA Interface Program takes the status information available on the two JTLS data servers and provides this information to the HLA RTI using the GlobalSim FOM. GESI works in a similar manner. The GESI GlobalSim Plugin gets entity information from the RTI and informs GESI of the location of the individual entities. GESI also has the ability to publish these entities using the Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) environment. ROLANDS & ASSOCIATES Corporation September 2019

7 Current Capabilities of GlobalSim
Easy transfer of ownership, including all unit related information Focus on Ground units in GESI Aggregation and de-aggregation of forces Cross model combat Demonstrations performed at ITEC, I/ITSEC, and other specific locales

8 GlobalSim Vignette Joint Task Force (JTF) Exercise
Discovery Of A Terrorist Training Camp Decision Is For A Direct Action Special Force Action Option Represent In JTLS – Aggregate Level JTF Commander Only Receives Results Represent In GESI – Observe the Full Evolution Of Action When the exercise calls for viewing a situation in tactical level detail, control of the aggregated units are passed from JTLS to GESI. Interaction with the limited set of aggregate units can then be accomplished and represented at the tactical level. All logistics and combat results that occur in GESI are fully represented back in JTLS. When the tactical level vignette is complete, control of the units are returned to JTLS. 10 Current Status Multi-Resolution Representation of Forces
Unit Ownership Transfer Reflection of Entities between models Supports Cross-Model Damage, Weapon Fires, and Weapon Detonations Force-on-Force, ground combat: only in GESI Units destroyed in GESI are automatically regained by JTLS

11 Evolvement of GlobalSim Federation
Representation of Supplies under development Reflection of Supply levels Consumption of ammunition and fuel by GESI Transfer of Supplies between models Process to Build Common Scenario Data Mapping of Combat Systems and Supplies using DIS Enumerations Correlation of Terrain: JTLS-GO GIS Tool combined with TerraVista (CAE) terrain tools

12 Current Limitations Unresolved issues with Attaches / Detaches
From previous link with JCATS (JMRM Federation) Federation Representation of Convoys truck convoys, rail cars, barges Limited Availability to DIS-type viewers For example: Virtual Battlespace - VBS3 Only possible through individual entities created from GESI-owned units Advocate a direct EODA connection (like MUSE)
