UnIversity Uncovered Formations of Gender & HE Pedagogies Funded by the Higher Education Academy

What is the project about: This research project: explores the ways that gender and other social identities (e.g. class, ethnicity, nationality, etc) shape the teaching & learning experiences & practices of students & teachers in HE aims to help develop inclusive teaching practices that support diverse student bodies & challenge inequalities in higher education.

The research explores: The different ways that current HE teaching practices address issues of diversity, equity and inclusion The ways that students and teachers experience the different teaching & learning practices being used in HE How gender and other identities (e.g. age, class and ‘race’) shape and constrain teaching & learning experiences, relations and practices

methodology Collaborative in approach Methods to engage participants in discussions about teaching and learning experiences and practices in HE Using the research to create spaces of dialogue for students and lecturers

Student seminar Aims to open up further spaces to discuss, debate and critique current teaching and learning practices in HE from the perspectives of students from a range of different backgrounds Aims to draw on those perspectives to feedback to policy-makers, senior managers and HE lecturers
