Elements and Principles (Photoshop Assignment #3) - photoshop “visual definitions” create them for 5 elements and 5 principles file size = 3 x 3” (at 150ppi) Elements: Line Shape Form Color Value Texture Space Principles: Balance Emphasis & Focal Point Contrast Movement Variety Pattern & Repetition Unity Harmony

In Class Assignment #3: Examples of Elements and Principles (in Photoshop): line space contrast balance

In Class Assignment #4: Shaded Ball: Create a shaded ball (guided in-class) with a full range of value (highlights, midtones, shadows). Make sure the value is a smooth gradient from light to dark which follows the spherical form. Size can be 7 x ppi * “ Stripey value ” needs to be blended to be smooth, so use a big, fuzzy brush! Add a value scale with 8 steps. Make sure that each of these values is in your shaded sphere. The value scale should be 8 steps - create 8 squares in a row (align/distribute) to show your value scale. Example on next page >>

In Class Assignment #4: Shaded Ball: make sure value scale also has an even gradation of value - meaning there all steps look even.
