Lesson 1: Review of our Four Seasons Click on the season you would like to review first! Winter Spring Summer Autumn/ Fall Click the house to go back to the Main Menu

Winter Winter is the coldest season Ponds and streams turn to ice Snow may fall in some places Winter has the fewest hours of daylight Most trees have no leaves Click the piece of paper to go back to Lesson 1: Review of the Four Seasons Click the house to go back to the Main Menu

Spring The air gets warmer Some places get a lot of rain Trees and flowers bloom Click the piece of paper to go back to Lesson 1: Review of the Four Seasons Click the house to go back to the Main Menu

Summer Summer has hot days and warm nights Summer has the most amount of daylight Green leaves grow on many trees and other plants There is no school during the summer so many families may take vacations Click the piece of paper to go back to Lesson 1: Review of the Four Seasons Click the house to go back to the Main Menu

Autumn/Fall The air outsides starts to get cooler The leaves change color and fall to the ground There are fewer hours of daylight in the fall than in the summer Animals migrate to warmer places Click the piece of paper to go back to Lesson 1: Review of the Four Seasons Click the house to go back to the Main Menu

Lesson 2: Precipitation/ The Water Cycle Click on the section you would like to learn about first! Types of Precipitation The Water Cycle Click the house to go back to the Main Menu

The Water Cycle The water cycle is the way water moves from Earth’s surface into the air and back again. The water cycle causes weather to change. It is a cycle and a cycle is like a circle, it goes around and around again. Click on the arrow to continue to learn about the Water Cycle Click the house to go back to the Main Menu

The Water Cycle Then the gas cools and condenses, or changes into tiny drops of water. The drops form clouds. The water drops join to make bigger ones. The drops fall as precipitation. The sun’s heat makes water evaporate, or change to a gas. The gas is pushed up and meets cooler air. The precipitation flows into rivers, lakes and oceans. Then the water cycle starts again. Click the piece of paper to go back to Lesson 2: Precipitation/The Water Cycle Click the arrow to go back to the previous slide about the Water Cycle

Types of Precipitation Rain- Rain is by far the most common type of precipitation in our atmosphere. Rain takes place when drops of liquid water fall all the way to the surface of the Earth. Click on the arrow to continue to learn about types of Precipitation Click the house to go back to the Main Menu

Types of Precipitation Hail- Pieces of ice that fall from the clouds Click on the arrow to continue to learn about types of Precipitation Click the house to go back to the Main Menu

Types of Precipitation Sleet- Rain that freezes as it falls, it is not light and fluffy like snow Click on the arrow to continue to learn about types of Precipitation Click the arrow to go back to the previous slide about types of precipitation

Types of Precipitation Snow- forms when water vapor turns directly into ice without ever passing through a liquid state. This happens as water condenses around an ice crystal You are at the end of this section, click the piece of paper to go back to Lesson 2: Precipitation/The Water Cycle Click the arrow to go back to the previous slide about types of precipitation

Lesson 3:Clouds Cirrus Cumulus Stratus Click on the cloud you would like to learn about first! Cirrus Cumulus Stratus Click the house to go back to the Main Menu

Cirrus Cirrus clouds bring sunny weather They are high in the sky They are thin, wispy clouds Click the piece of paper to go back to Lesson 3: Clouds Click the house to go back to the Main Menu

Cumulus These clouds are white and puffy They usually mean sunny weather Click on the arrow to continue to learn about cumulus clouds Click the house to go back to the Main Menu

Cumulus Cumulonimbus clouds look similar to cumulus clouds but are taller and can bring thunderstorms Cumulonimbus Click the piece of paper to go back to Lesson 3: Clouds Click the arrow to go back to the previous slide about cumulus clouds

Stratus Clouds are gray and flat Cover the sky May bring snow or rain Click the piece of paper to go back to Lesson 3: Clouds Click the house to go back to the Main Menu

Lesson 4: Weather Disasters Click on which you would like to learn first! Tornados Hurricanes Click the house to go back to the Main Menu

Tornados A Tornado is a very strong wind that comes down from clouds in the shape of a funnel Tornadoes form quickly Tornadoes can happen during thunderstorms A tornado that touches the ground can destroy things in its path Click on the arrow to continue to learn about tornados Click the house to go back to the Main Menu

Tornados A tornado that touches the ground can destroy things in its path Click on the arrow to continue to learn about tornados Click the arrow to go back to the previous slide about tornados

Tornados TORNADO SAFETY Go to a basement, inside a hall closet, or bathroom Crouch under the stairs Keep away from windows, water, metal, and objects that use electricity Cover your head If you cannot get to shelter, lie flat in a ditch or other low place You are at the end of this section, click the piece of paper to go back to Lesson 4: Weather Disasters Click the arrow to go back to the previous slide about tornados

Hurricanes A Hurricane is a large storm that starts over warm ocean water Hurricanes have heavy rains that cause floods Hurricanes have very strong winds that can knock down trees Click on the arrow to continue to learn about Hurricanes Click the house to go back to the Main Menu

Hurricanes HURRICANE SAFETY Move inland Board up windows Bring chairs and toys inside Keep extra water on hand for drinking Check your batteries Stay inside and away from windows Click the piece of paper to go back to Lesson 4: Weather Disasters Click the arrow to go back to the previous slide about hurricanes
