2 Lightning and thunder signal a THUNDERSTORM

3 A common storm with a lot of rain that is usually over quickly- THUNDERSTORM

4 Types of Precipitation Electrical charges jumping from cloud to cloud or cloud to ground is LIGHTNING

5 A kind of cloud found in thunderstorms & hurricanes is a THUNDERCLOUD!

6 A hurricane is a huge storm that forms over warm ocean water

7 Some hurricanes die over the ocean, and some die as they move over land

8 A spinning funnel cloud that reaches from the clouds to the earth is a TORNADO A tornado is LOUD! You hear a lot of noise from the wind

9 Tornados have the strongest winds on earth!!

10 Ice Storm An ICE STORM is when rain freezes as soon as it hits the ground because the air temperature is just below freezing

11 A BLIZZARD is a very cold snowstorm with strong winds and heavy snow

12 Get out of water Don’t stand under trees Go inside immediately Stay away from TVs, telephones, water and metal objects

13 Stay indoors if you can If you go outside, dress warmly Wear a hood, mittens, and snow boots

14 Go to the basement or inside hall, closet or bathroom Crouch under the stairs or near an inner wall and cover your head with your arms Keep away from windows, water, metal objects, and objects that use electricity

15 Move in-land Go from mobile home to permanent shelter Tape windows, stay indoors away from windows
