My Book is Finished! What Do I Do, Now?  Edit it (Natural Reader)  Send it out to beta-readers  Edit it AGAIN  Format it (See Formatting Presentation)

What About Publishing?  There are many different ways to publish your book:  Traditional Publishing  Self-publishing  Indie-publishing

So What is “Traditional” Publishing?  Traditional publishing is the process of: 1.Completing a manuscript 2.Writing a query letter (see query letter presentation) 3.Submitting query letter and/or manuscript to PUBLISHING HOUSE 4.Signing a contract with publishing house

What about “Self” Publishing?  Self publishing is: 1.Completing a manuscript 2.Formatting and illustrating your own book (or hiring someone) 3.Using a third-party company (Createspace, Smashwords, Kobo) to publish your book

What’s the Difference? Traditional Publishing  No extra work needed!  Publishing House controls all marketing and printing of your book  Controls publishing rights to your book  You get a percentage of book profits Self-publishing  Must self-promote, illustrate, and format book  ALL rights are yours  You receive ALL profits  Third-party publishers (Createspace, Kobo, Smashwords) will print your books for you (FREE)
